Arranging a Funeral
We appreciate that arranging a funeral can be daunting. For those of you who have been fortunate enough not to need the help of a funeral director before, please be reassured that our role is to do everything we can for you. All you need to do is speak with us to tell us what you require and if you wish, we’ll do the rest. Please contact us to arrange an appointment either in the comfort of your own home or at our office.
We are also able to help with a full range of memorials suitable for burial or cremation. We will also advise you on any regulations you may need to adhere to.
Where possible, we suggest you make an appointment with us to discuss the options available to you.
Please contact us to request a brochure.
Some people choose to pre-arrange their funeral in advance for many different reasons. Usually the main reason is to alleviate the choices and emotional burden on their family at an already difficult time.
Some choose to pre-pay for their funeral in advance to alleviate the financial burden on their family.
Some choose to do both.
Where possible, we suggest you call in or telephone to collect a brochure, or make an appointment with us to discuss the options available to you in more detail.
Repatriation (dying abroad)
We are able to work with you to organise the repatriation of the person from abroad, back to the UK.
We are able to liaise with funeral director overseas and the British Consulate or Embassy to make the necessary arrangements and organise the documentation required to ensure their safe return.
Likewise, we are able to organise the transportation of the person from the UK to their final resting place abroad.
Both options can be costly to the family if the person was on abroad on business or holiday, without the appropriate travel insurance.

The funeral of a child
Where possible, there is no charge for our services for children of 16 and under.
Services outside our control such as burial grounds, crematoria, ministers/celebrants, newspapers, florists etc. may still make a charge.

We have tried to choose a range of coffins and caskets which reflect the personality of those who prefer something simple, those who are traditional, those who are alternative, those who are ecologically minded and those who would like something bespoke.
Needless to say there is an awful lot of choice available and even more elsewhere, so if nothing seems appropriate within our range we are confident we can source what you are looking for.

Urns are available in all kinds of materials and designs to suit every taste and every resting place.
Keepsakes or ‘tokens’ are a small amount of ashes in a miniature container. People occasionally wish to retain a small amount of ashes after scattering most of them in a designated place
There are also craftspeople who incorporate ashes into glass pendants or objects, or even make them into diamonds and fireworks.
In recent years, ashes are returned from our local crematoria in sturdy eco-friendly boxes as an alternative to plastic.
You may order any of these urns before or after the funeral. If you choose to transfer ashes into a different urn at a later date, we are happy to do that for you.

You may be entitled to some financial help towards the funeral from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) if there is no estate to cover the funeral costs and all close relatives of the person are in receipt of benefits.
